By way of introduction, I’m George Magenta, owner of Magenta Basic Firearms Training, LLC located in Edgewood, New Mexico.

I’m a NRA and New Mexico State certified firearms instructor teaching basic through intermediate classes in firearms safety, pistol and pistol shooting, rifle and rifle shooting, personal protection in the home, and New Mexico concealed carry handgun classes.   

The late Colonel John Dean “Jeff” Cooper, founder of the American Pistol Institute, and later, the Gunsite Training Center in Arizona, once said,

“Owning a handgun makes you armed, like owning a guitar makes you a musician.” 

Colonel Cooper clearly understood the undeniable  value of disciplined firearms training and shooting practice. He knew, as all serious shooters must, that the only path to becoming a mature, safe, and proficient “armed” citizen is through comprehensive training and practice. Simply having a gun on your person, or at home doesn't mean a whole lot if you don’t know how to use it properly in dire, life threatening circumstances. 

As a firearms instructor I strive to encourage each of my students to achieve a complete, basic firearms education that will empower them to rapidly advance their knowledge and level of shooting expertise. It's a fact that good basic firearms training is the essential ingredient in establishing proper habits and safe routines, while also providing the basis for any and all advanced training.  For this reason you'll find that I am particularly enthusiastic about instructing those who know little or nothing about firearms, or, who are beginning or intermediate level shooters, since these are the people who hold in their hands the future of gun ownership in America and the preservation of our second amendment rights.
