John has extensive professional and personal experience with firearms and other weapons. He was employed as a special agent for over 22 years with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) which is the agency that regulates the firearms industry. John was a distinguished graduate of the ATF National Academy and during his career he received advanced specialized training in firearms technology and identification. John has examined thousands of firearms in his career and has interacted with industry members and law enforcement partners alike. He has been recognized as an expert by the United States District Court in the Eastern District and Middle Districts of North Carolina in certain firearms issues.
