As someone who was never raised around firearms or had any experience with them, I have always been heavily uncomfortable being in their presence. I was hesitant when I was signed up with my work team to be a part of John Duke’s safety class, being that I had never held or fired a gun before. Throughout the class, I quickly came to realize that my fears were based on me knowing nothing about the safety and logistics behind handling firearms. I left the class feeling more confident because of the fact that I knew how to handle, hold, and fire a gun as well as being enlightened on other safety practices that made me feel safer in the presence of such weapons
